A new study has found the most popular dates of the year to get married, with 27th July taking the top spot. Experts at nodeposit365.co.uk analysed data from the Office of National Statistics to discover the number of weddings, including traditional ceremonies and civil ceremonies, that took place on each day of the year from 2018 to 2020. The data analysis determined which dates are the most popular as well as the least popular to get married.

The top spot for the most popular day to get married is 27th July. The month of July lands in the middle of the summer season, allowing everyone to enjoy the sun for longer and make the most out of the golden hour for stunning photos. Since this date also occurs during the hottest part of the summer, it’s undoubtedly appealing to couples. Over a 3-year period, between 2018 to 2020, 27th July witnessed 5,478 weddings.

#2 – 24th August

The second spot goes to 24th August, with 5,386 weddings. August is visibly a popular month for weddings, with seven of the ten most popular dates being in this month. The 24th August landed on bank holiday weekend between 2018-2020, making it perfect for couples; the long weekend gives couples the opportunity to celebrate for longer, and it gives their guests more time to enjoy the celebrations without worrying about having to leave early.

#3 – 3rd August

The third place goes to 3rd August, with 5,284 weddings. Summertime weddings often have vivid colour schemes that capture the spirit of the occasion; vibrant themes can be created with anything from bright flowers to upbeat décor.

#4 – 18th August

In fourth is 18th August, with 5,270 weddings. During the summer, gardens, parks, and outdoor venues are in full bloom, offering an incredible natural setting for your wedding photos.

#5 – 7th September

In fifth place is 7th September, with 5,263 weddings. An early September wedding could be a fantastic option if you’re looking for an autumnal wedding but still want to catch some late summer sunshine.
