secures €1M to scale hotel guest communications startup


Guest communications startup has landed €1 million in funding.

The investment in the Netherlands-based company came from Arches Capital and will go towards helping hotels deliver personalized services, improve efficiency for front desks and find upsell opportunities.

Runnr uses WhatsApp to automate guest communications and said its technology can save front desk employees up to 15 minutes per booking as well as increase revenue per booking.

According to a statement, Runnr was founded 15 months ago and is working with more than 100 properties that “share our belief in the potential of AI to create exceptional guest experiences.”

In a LinkedIn post, Michiel de Vor, co-founder and chief executive, said, “Starting a business from scratch has always been my dream. I enjoy being challenged, being hyper-focused, getting my hands dirty and surrounding myself with ambitious people. For me these are ingredients for a winning environment. … Now it is time to accelerate building the future automated guest communication for the hospitality industry.”

The company, which is integrated with a number of property management systems including Apaleo, Guestline and Mews, said the investment will enable it to scale.
