Turkish Airlines launches more flights to inspiring Istanbul

Turkish Airlines is adding more weekly flights from Manchester to Istanbul to meet increased passenger demand to explore one of Europe’s most exciting and historic cities. Last year Istanbul was the number one city for international arrivals and welcomed over 20 million visitors, up by a quarter from 2022*.

Türkiye’s flagship carrier will now operate a fourth flight from 19 May, increasing the number of weekly flights from Manchester to 25 during the peak summer season. The airline currently has three daily flights between Manchester to Istanbul, with the four additional services (one per day) operating every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Manchester General Manager, Serhat Gök, said: “Turkish Airlines’ four additional weekly flights to Istanbul will meet the expected rise in demand from customers keen to visit Türkiye’s top tourism destination during the summer.

“As a culturally rich city where east meets west, Istanbul is incredibly popular with British and European travellers. “The city is renowned for its history and iconic landmarks – including the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace and Grand Bazaar – as well as its breath-taking views and amazing nightlife.

“Adding further weekly flights will give customers more opportunities to visit one of Türkiye’s most popular spots for travellers keen to immerse themselves in its rich history and culture.” As part of its ongoing commitment to the UK and Ireland, Turkish Airlines has also announced extra flights on key routes from Istanbul to other popular British gateway cities.

For summer 2024, four extra flights per week will be added to its highly popular Birmingham to Istanbul route, and a further four additional flights from London Gatwick to Istanbul. This will see the carrier operate 112 weekly flights between the British capital and Istanbul.

In Scotland, three additional weekly flights will operate between Edinburgh and Istanbul for summer 2024, meaning a total of 10 flights per week will be available between the two cultural hotspots. The carrier also operates seven weekly summer seasonal flights between London Gatwick and Antalya.
