The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) hosted the 2024 Amazing Thailand Culture and Arts Festival on Tuesday, 17th December, at the Aksra Theatre King Power, Bangkok.
The successful cultural event is another precursor to the 50th anniversary of China-Thailand diplomatic relations next year.
This festival likewise drew in around 300 active senior Chinese travellers in a joyous celebration of cultural exchange and tourism.
Marking significant milestones
Among the TAT officials gracing the event were deputy governor for international marketing in Asia and the South Pacific Pattaraanong Na Chiangmai, executive director for East Asia Chuwit Sirivajjakul, TAT Kunming office director Ruedee Cheawsamoot, and East Asia deputy executive director Tharinee Somboon.
China, on the other hand, was represented by Zhao Xin and Tao Ying, of the China Cultural Centre.
Chiangmai said of the event: “The 2024 Amazing Thailand Culture and Arts Festival was organised to commemorate the significant milestone of 50 years of diplomatic relations between Thailand and the People’s Republic of China. Today’s event signifies a pivotal step in strengthening cultural exchanges, fostering bilateral cooperation, and encouraging continuous tourism between the two nations.”
A lively affair
Guests enjoyed a lively atmosphere highlighted by cultural performances from the Bangkok Dance Academy’s One Day in Bangkok and an exclusive meet-and-greet with renowned Thai-Chinese singer and actor Bie Thassapak Hsu.
The highlight of the event was a song-and-dance contest revolving around the theme 50 Years of Thailand-China Diplomatic Relations.
Eleven teams, each comprising 20-30 participants from a total of 300, delivered engaging performances lasting five to ten minutes across various music genres.
The festival was organised by TAT’s Kunming Office in collaboration with Chinese tour operators. The participating active senior groups, originating from Yunnan, Guangxi, and Guizhou embarked on a six-day, five-night journey to Bangkok and Pattaya.
The initiative aimed to position Thailand as a top-of-mind destination for active senior travellers, a high-potential segment with significant purchasing power, a passion for travel during their leisure time, and the flexibility to travel year-round.
