The Artisan Travel Group is delighted to announce the successful acquisition of escorted tour specialist Travel Editions, a leader in cultural tours with a rich history of creating exceptional experiences for “travellers, not tourists.” The group, which comprises The Aurora Zone and Artisan Travel, was carefully selected as the ideal home for the well-established brand following a highly competitive process led by The Firebird Partnership.

Travel Editions, founded in 1994, is renowned for its diverse portfolio of walking, historical, gastronomic, and botanical tours, as well as themed UK breaks, European rail holidays, and much-loved Christmas trips. These offerings align seamlessly with The Artisan Travel Group’s mission to deliver unforgettable, experience-led itineraries that celebrate local insight and expertise.

Under the new arrangement, Travel Editions will continue to be managed by General Manager Julie Martin and her talented team, ensuring a smooth transition and continuity for its loyal customers. Co-founders Ed Coventry and John Dryden, who have successfully run the business for 30 years, will retire following the sale. The Artisan Travel Group Managing Director, Amy Hope, praised the duo’s achievements and expressed excitement about the future partnership.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Travel Editions into The Artisan Travel Group. For over 30 years, Ed, John, and their team have curated exceptional travel experiences, and we share their passion for bringing authentic and meaningful holidays to discerning travellers,” said Amy Hope, Managing Director of The Artisan Travel Group “This partnership marks a significant milestone for both brands, and we’re looking forward to combining our expertise to reach new heights. We wish Ed and John all the best for their retirement and are excited to embark on this next chapter with Julie and her talented team.”

The Artisan Travel Group, founded in 2002, is a leading independent operator specialising in tailor-made, experience-focused holidays. Its brands include The Aurora Zone, the UK’s only dedicated Northern Lights holiday provider, and Artisan Travel, known for its award-winning itineraries in unique destinations such as The Azores, the island of Gozo and the Nordic countries. With this acquisition, The Artisan Travel Group aims to expand its reach in the escorted tour sector while continuing to champion authentic, experience-driven holidays.

Investment Partner David Wilson and Senior Investment Manager Katie Ford from Panoramic Growth Equity made the deal possible with their continued investment and support aligned with The Artisan Travel Group’s vision to grow specialist travel brands.

As The Artisan Travel Group welcomes Travel Editions into its portfolio, this acquisition marks a new chapter in delivering curated cultural and experience-led holidays to an even wider audience. Together, the two brands are poised to redefine what it means to travel authentically and meaningfully.
