I didn’t even know these ‘keychain’ sized Apple Watch charger existed until I saw an online ad recently. I found this one here. The reason I chose this one was due to the capacity (1.4mAh). Most of the other seemed to be 1.0mAh. In any event, this one works perfectly. A few things: It is slower than the Apple Watch plug-in charger that came with the Apple Watch, but that’s to be expected. How much slower? I timed it a few times and it appears to be about 4.8x slower. So in other words, to charge as much as the wall charger does in 10 minutes, you’d have to use this device for 48 minutes. Not great, but for me acceptable considering that it will be handy when a wall outlet is not available. Lastly, I’m not sure how long the battery in this device holds a charge. In other words whether it self-discharges quickly or tends to keep it’s charge at a fairly decent level during periods when it isn’t being actively used and charged. I haven’t had it long enough to experience this. But I do know that higher quality Li-ion batteries tend to have a slower self-discharge rate compared to cheaper ones.

This portable charger is a great size and pretty simple to use. You just have to click the button to turn the device on and then place your watch to charge. The different colors indicate what level of battery its at, as well as indicating if the battery is charging. I would recommend charging it before use. It has a USB-C connection, so you can use Apple wall connectors to charge. Initially I had issues with charging speed (It takes about an hour), but after charging the battery first, my watch seemed to charge a bit faster. Overall, pretty solid.

I really like this portable charger. I keep it in my car so I can charge my watch on the go. I usually plug it into the USB port and then place my watch on it. I do this so I do not have to worry that there isn’t enough charge left in it while I am driving. My USB port is positioned so that the charger is sticking straight out for my watch to sit comfortably on it while I am driving. It is also nice that I could throw it into my purse to use later if the watch didn’t charge enough. I really do like this charger. I also like the light purple color.

I love the design of this charger. But it just didn’t work as well as others. I left this unit charging overnight to ensure a full battery then went to charge my watch in the morning. Normally takes other products 2-3 hours to recharge. This wasn’t even halfway complete and the unit seemed out of power. Besides the lack of charging power (which is really the only true metric, right?), the battery indicator is not as good as other products. I assumed green meant fully charged but it would have been nice to show some sort of completeness meter (even four dots like other products). Can’t recommend this product but it looks cool and love the built in plug. Just doesn’t do what I need it to.
