Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol, announced  that the Navi Mumbai International Airport is set to begin operations in March 2025. Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu and Mohol visited the airport site to review the progress of the ongoing construction.

“Based on the current progress, the airport will be operational by March next year. This will significantly enhance connectivity with neighbouring cities such as Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Kalyan, and the broader western Maharashtra region,” Mohol stated, emphasising the airport’s international standards and its expected annual footfall of nearly 20 million passengers. He also expressed support for naming the airport after the late PWP leader DB Patil and assured that compensation issues for project-affected persons (PAP) would be addressed through discussions with management.

“We are committed to ensuring that individuals who have contributed land for the airport project are not displaced,” the minister clarified, highlighting the government’s awareness and consideration of project-related issues and compensations.
