Greater Bay Airlines launches new Yichang route

Greater Bay Airlines (GBA) began flying its new route to Yichang in Hubei Province on Tuesday, 17th December.

This further expands the airline’s network in the Chinese Mainland, following the launch of its routes to Huangshan and Zhoushan earlier this year.

This new service flies directly to Yichang thrice week, every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday to provide greater convenience for those visiting the Three Gorges Dam and other famous tourist attractions.

Located in southwestern Hubei Province, Yichang has rich tourism resources and attracted a total of 110 million local and international visitors in 2023, including three million travelling by air.

Warm welcomes

Passengers of the inaugural flight were greeted by GBA chief executive Liza Ng at the boarding gate of Hong Kong International Airport before their flight took off.

The inaugural flight was formally welcomed with a ceremonial water salute upon its arrival at Yichang Sanxia International Airport around 5pm, followed by an inaugural ceremony held on the apron.

Officials at the ceremony included Yichang Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism deputy director-general Liu Zhengzheng, Yichang Sanxia International Airport chair Xu Zuoqiang, Yichang Municipal Bureau of Commerce section chief Wang Liang, as well as representatives from GBA.
