Frasers Hospitality clinches BREEAM In-Use Certifications for  European portfolio in alignment with ESG Goals


Frasers Hospitality, a strategic business unit of Frasers Property Limited (Group), reinforced its stewardship in responsible tourism with the recent award of  Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) In-Use  (BIU) certifications. The certifications, aimed at providing a clear and credible route map to  improving sustainability for existing buildings, were attained by its owned portfolio1in Europe, contributing positively towards the ESG goals set by the Group.

Leading the Way with Green Building Certification  

The eight properties that obtained the BIU certifications are located in Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom (UK) and include Capri by Fraser, Barcelona, Fraser Suites Glasgow,  Fraser Suites Edinburgh, Fraser Suites Kensington, London, Fraser Suites Queens Gate,  London, Fraser Place Canary Wharf, London, Park International Hotel, London and Fraser  Suites Hamburg. Two remaining owned properties in the European portfolio, Capri by Fraser,  Berlin, and Capri by Fraser, Frankfurt, are in the process of obtaining the BIU certifications this year.

The green building certifications affirm Frasers Hospitality’s commitment to design, develop  and manage hospitality assets responsibly to positively contribute to environmental protection  and social sustainability outcomes. This commitment is underscored by the collection of green  building certifications attained by 40 percent of the owned portfolio by gross floor area, with  the remaining ones on track to attain the certifications in the coming years.

Navigating the ESG Pathway 

Beyond the newly attained green building certifications, the owned UK portfolio has also been accredited by Green Tourism2for its approach and practices towards sustainability and is fully  powered by renewable energy. Other key ESG initiatives across properties globally include:

  • Adoption of sustainable eco-friendly linen and paperless in-room guides to reduce  environmental footprint;
  • Reduction in plastic waste through the elimination of single-use plastics in rooms and  food and beverage outlets;
  • Engagement and partnership of responsible suppliers to build a responsible and  resilient supply chain through sustainable procurement;
  • Implementation of food waste management and recycling programme; and • Participation in a variety of community engagement initiatives such as charity  fundraising, community clean-ups, tree planting programmes and blood donation  drives.
