Expedia Group has announced that Scott Schenkel will serve as its new chief financial officer, replacing Julie Whalen who announced in November she’ll be leaving the position she’s held for little over two years.
The company said Schenkel is expected to start in early February. Most recently he was at eBay as interim CEO and, prior to that, CFO.
“Scott joins Expedia Group with extensive financial leadership experience across global businesses, particularly in e-commerce.” said Ariane Gorin, CEO of Expedia Group.

“His expertise, operational acumen, and strategic insight will be instrumental as we strengthen our position as a global leader in travel. I look forward to working with Scott to drive our strategic goals forward. I also want to thank Julie for her significant contributions and dedication during her tenure as CFO, as well as for ensuring a smooth transition to Scott.”
Other new additions to Expedia Group’s C-suite are Ramana Thumu, who joined this month as chief technology officer, and Shilpa Ranganathan, who will join in January as the company’s chief product office.
