Centara Hotels & Resorts announced the appointment of two new general managers who will take the reins at major resorts in Koh Samui, Thailand and the Maldives.

Neil Li takes the helm at Centara Reserve Samui, while Andrew Jansson gears up to lead at two new properties in the Maldives: Centara Mirage Lagoon Maldives and Centara Grand Lagoon Maldives.

These strategic appointments reflect Centara’s commitment to expanding its leadership team and driving growth at its flagship properties around the world.

The new general managers are expected to play pivotal roles in achieving Centara’s long-term goals by implementing innovative strategies, optimising operations, and delivering unparalleled guest experiences.

A welcome addition

With regard to these new appointments, Centara Hotels & Resorts COO Michael Henssler said: “We are delighted to welcome [Li and Jansson] to the Centara family. Their diverse backgrounds and proven leadership within the luxury sector will be invaluable as we continue to expand our footprint and service offerings.”

Henssler added that the appointment of Li and Jansson to the general manager post underscores Centara’s commitment to attracting top talent to drive success and deliver exceptional value to guests in all their hotels and resorts.

Extensive expertise in a competitive field

Li brings more than a decade of extensive hotel management experience to his new position.

Prior to joining Centara, he served as assistant vice-president at Shangri-La Circle and also worked for several five-star hotels in Shanghai, China.

Li said: “I am excited to join Centara Reserve Samui and contribute my expertise in hospitality to this esteemed property. I look forward to leading the team and furthering this stunning resort’s reputation for exquisite luxury and personalised travel.”

Maximising knowledge of  the local market

Jansson, on the other hand, takes pride in nearly three decades in the hospitality sector, having held leadership roles with leading brands like Hyatt and Shangri-La in fourteen countries.

No stranger to the Maldives, Jansson’s knowledge of the local market will be crucial in establishing the strategic and operational objectives for these properties and further establishing Centara’s expansion in the country, adding to the two existing properties currently in operation there.

Regarding his new designation, Jansson said: “I am thrilled to be part of Centara and to return to the Maldives for this exciting project. I look forward to leveraging my experience and insights to contribute to the success of these new properties and enhance Centara’s presence in the region.”
